To License or Not to License

When you decide to venture out and care for children, in Oregon and many states, one major decision is what license to apply for or if to get licensed at all. Now if just making a few extra coins is the goal. Then maybe unlicensed care is the route for you. However, if you are looking to tap into your entrepreneurial spirit, then maximizing your earning potential should be a goal.

While brainstorming flyer ideas with a colleague and mentor, we came up with “Love the Babies Get the Bag”. All to say, yes we understand that you have a passion for working with and loving children. However, do it while getting your coins. And I mean all the coins you can. in 2024, providers are no longer giving all we have physically, emotionally, and socially to continue to struggle financially. The field of Early Childhood Education can really be a financial game changer if done correctly and professionally.

Throughout this year, I will be making a series of videos explaining how you can level up your home-based Early Childhood Educational program. Yes sis, you read that correctly, Early Childhood Educational program. Not daycare! If you are ready to be a part of changing the narrative for our field, follow all our social media platforms and watch the video below.

In this first video, I show you why unlicensed care is not it. I mean from a financial and return on investment of your time point of view. Being licensed in the state of Oregon automatically increases your earning potential per child enrolled. Match that with becoming star-rated with SPARK or obtaining a Step 7 or 8 to be able to participate in state and county-funded preschool slots. Then it’s very clear why being unlicensed, just isn’t it.
